Ordering Baby Announcements

Ordering Baby Announcements

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

What an exciting time to be having a new baby and ordering baby announcements. I’m sure this is going to be an event worth sharing with loved ones and friends. After all it is every parents dream to be able to have children, either a baby girl or a baby boy. Consider yourself very fortunate and be grateful for all you have. Now it is time to celebrate!

Now you can begin to make the decision whether to order digital inexpensive announcements or letterpress baby announcements which can be substantially more money but, much more elegant and beautiful. There are many differences and I will try to highlight a few here for you to consider.

Digital announcements or cards are typically printed on 80# to 130# card stock. The presses used are digital and often use toner like a laser toner or ink with an additive oil that gives it a sheen. Some of the really cheap lines use a color copier process, which I don’t recommend. Just too cheap a look for me. The aforementioned look nice and can be printed quickly.

Letterpress on the other hand, is a more complicated process. It involves thicker papers, craftsmanship and time. Kinda like a good cake. You might think it is all the same, but the pressman at work that day can make all the difference. It is almost like buying a car made on a Monday. You want an energetic and caring pressman printing your run and paying attention to every detail. Not a slouching, hung over irritated that it is Monday kinda worker.

The baby announcements they print for you on a letterpress will be beautiful and not only to the eye but to the touch as well. Letterpress printing pushes the plate deep into the paper for a unique look and feel that this process only can provide. Very different that the digital cousin.

Sending baby boy birth announcements is probably the best method of notifying friends and family of your newborn. Of course, family will probably already know this but I’m sure they will want a picture or two. The announcements you choose will make an impression on them as well and also on the type of taste you have. You want to make sure you choose an announcement that makes a statement about you and your family and one that you will cherish forever! You also want it to be a hit with anyone who gets it!

Once you make the decision to get the announcements, figure out how many you will need and always order 25 extra because you will run into people and think of other friends that will want to see it as well. This will also help control your budget. You also might want to think about adding a photo to your announcement or inserting one into the envelope. This still effective but you don’t have to attach tit to the card making it less expensive. They also make these cool pockets with the announcement of the front and the picture slides in the back. Worth taking a look at.

The fun part is being able to get creative and having fun with your announcement. This is why I recommend doing this creative part before you have your baby because then you won’t have time to do all this preparation and will be tired. So plan ahead before ordering those baby announcements and you won’t be disappointed, but you will be thrilled.
